Depends what your looking for? Are you looking for somewhere close to town, somewhere a little out of town but on decent public transport routes, somewhere nice and quiet? A flat or a house?

2 bedroom apartments are what i can currently afford on my own, still holding out to meet some nice rich girl
out of town are what i ideally want im based at reading for at least the next two years so within half an hour drive really.

Lower Earley, Woodley or Tilehurst best places to be.
Lower Earley has a lot of starter homes, first time buyers are well catered for around there.
