Certain Piranha you can, but it is in general you cant. The bigger P's dont bother chasing the smaller fish as its pointless wasting the energy for such a small meal! Mine is going to be a community tank aswell as have that big Piranha.

Like the fish james My mate has a pair of oscars, we fed gold fish to them once

His brother had pirhanas but they eat eachother

Its threads like this that make me want to get my tank out of the garage and re-start my aquarium.....

But i always loose intrest after a few months and the tank gets filthy

i would of got an oscar but my tank is too small, people tell me its too small for my convicts but they been fine in there

would a piranha naw your fingers down to the bone if you dipped them in the water

or are they only aggressive towards fish

I only want a simple yes or no answer to whether they will bite you if you put your hand in the tank

there isnt really a yes or no answer.

You can get some that are crazy and will attack anything and have seen pics of people who have had their hands bitten. But most of them wouldnt bother unless you started to go towards them and they would probably try to defend themselves.

I havent finished it yet, needs supports adding at either side where the tank hangs over and also need to support the back of the stand aswell. I have built stand for alot bigger tanks than this though so know what I doin!!

TBH pirhana's r really hard to keep aliveto let them get big enough to be dangerous.

Decent tank size, good filtration and a REGULAR feeding routine will stop them attacking and killing each other and Piranha's like red bellies (and other shoal species) will grow to over 10" from 1-2" in a few years.

But if you dont keep ontop of feedings they will just turn around and kill off the weakest in the group...some just go physco and do that anyway!!
