I'd never done it before either. So I took it all apart to see how it works and miraculously the thing atucally starts up and works

SHE IS ALIVE!!

Brought back to life today by a mate who rebuilt one of the heads for free and replaced my bent valve and shattered 'follower' that were causing the problem..
