Good luck with it
Are you doing it as a work based college course. I was going to do it at the national construction college at kingslyn in norfolk. Had the interveiw and that and got a place but had too much trouble finding a company to sponsor me and ended up having a completly differnt career
Still would love to do it someday.

The courses I am looking at are at a, agricultural college somewhere in Northampton, though there is one nearer to home which could do them. I'm going to pay for it myself as you seem to be able to earn a decent ammount from a fairly small initial outlay of between £100 and £300 for a 5 day course. Not looking at doing the digger stuff as it's pretty expensive, seems to be over £900 for most of the courses. Will need to look into it a bit more because i'm just looking to get the certificate which seems to be the requirement for what I want to do.

yer thats why i needed a sponsorship mine covered loads of differnt types of plant. You earnt a card for each one that certified that you were capable and safe to operate it. the overall course was called construction plant operator i think, they also ran a construction plant repair course as well that looked good.
The college itself was amazing as its an old RAF base so theres loads of plant in all differnt hangers and acres and acres of land to go out and learn on

That sounds like a cool job, you can get grants from your LEA as well as a student loan. So with a bit of saving up you might still be able to do it?

We will have to have an inter-racial, er... regional, meet then. I can drive there in my all terrain fork lift truck and pick you all up 10 feet in the air
Everyone is being such girls. They are all trying to impress people. I think this is a result of spending far too mcuh time sitting in front of Off Day pressing refresh and thinking the people on here are your actual friends. I think there should be session time limits with strict break times to stop people getting too serious It's funny how if somone takes the piss out of somone's care and they kick off the instant reaction of the board is it's only the internet. Where as in here people throw hissy fits all the time and it's ok. There we go, that's My Two Cents with Kent Brockman.
Anyway. Tractors. Fit farmer girls who aren't 15 like the last one I'm going to this place for my 1 or 3 day course!

Used to have a Massey Furgerson tractor. Now our contractor brings over one of the JCB thhings with the forklift/bucket thing on a telescopic arm. Forget what it's called, but i've helped use it a fair few times. Also used excavators, but the cost of the course doesn't justify the ammount I would earn so there aint no point.

I operated one while we were laying new drains. Once you get the hang of it it's not too hard...
