driving home in my van tonight and hit a HUGE pothole, pulled over straight away an got out to hear my front passenger side tyre hissing.
had to get my mate out of bed to give me a 40mile round trip back to mines to get spare to change.
so changed the front 2 then checked pressure to notice the back passenger had gone down too, so swapped that with front drivers wheel.
both wheels have quite big dents on the inner rim
am now running two speedline alessio's on the front with the 18's on the back.
can i claim money/new alloys from the council for this, im sure ive heard of being able to get compensation for damage caused by potholes..
bit pissed off the wheels are only a couple of months old
think im going to go and buy 18" compomotive MO6's for it now.

I know what it feels like m8. Here in Malta almost every road has potholes. I have to constantly swerve here and there to avoid them. Can't have proper low profile tyres.

Your Astravan looked sweet with those wheels on it aswell
Not sure on the claiming off the council situation? You probably can but it'd be a pain in the arse

go take a pic of the pothole, chuck a newspaper with todays date next to it and get a whole range of decent pics... also take some of your alloys.
you cna claim it from the council as fragpot says but its a lengthy process

i think you can only claim if the pothole is deeper than 35-40 mm

Take photos/measure pothole etc...
Get loadsa evidence. It can be done, councils HATE paying out for this and will have the hole filled as soon as you complain, so get plenty of digital evidence FIRST
If need be can take them to the County Court, they normally take the damaged alloys off you in exchange for ££££ to their value!

you can claim if you think they have been negligent about the repairs to the road. Write them a letter detailing the accident, damage etc, state you are displeased and feel its due to their negligence and send some pics. Make sure they are proper pictures tho, not digital, and make sure you have copies.
If they dont come back with an offer, write again politely suggesting that the local press might be interested in the story and see what you get back.
IMO people in britain dont stand up for their rights nearly enough hence why we have a shit government, shit fuel prices, shit roads, and an education and health system that is rapidly going down the tubes.

When I claimed for my alloy, I had to draw a plan of the area too aswell as phot evidence. Deffo claim, mine took a few months iirc, which weren't too bad.

Ouch mate
I claimed off the council.
First thing you need to do is grab a camera and take a heap of photos of said pot hole(s)
Next up write to the council, they then put you on to their insurers - Zurich
This lot are morons and will try get out of paying up so keep at them.
Took them 2 months to cough up £100 for my new tyre I burst just after the beach.
Good luck

Exact same location as mine, but you were heading towards BOD i was going the other way to the beach.
And I know the pot hole you no doubt clipped as I near enough crashed trying to avoid it on the bike
