why the hell would you blow 20k of the banks money on a car that will probably end up wrapped around a tree??
i would sod the loan off, save up for something like a bucket of a corsa and then gain your ncb aswell as driving skill/knowledge and common sense to handle anything more powerful
however, i would get a scooby STI import - then splash the rest of the cash on buying the fuel

like i said, STI scooby import - about 10k will get you something decent, shit off a stick quick and good all round cars. Just get used to the low mpg as some people here will say

If you've been driving big performance cars for the last 5 years you should have some sort of clue to what you want
At 18 i would say a small car with a small engine would be a good choice

Don't do it mate, you'll end up regretting it.
My mate did this, borrowed nearly 15k for a new Fiesta ST at 19, bought TPFT insurance and then wrote it off 4 months later

How did he manage that?
Do they not normally only let you get fully comp if the car is over 4k?
And what a fanny.

you need to take into account a lot more than the speed of the vehicle, can you afford to run it petrol costs, can you afford insurance your not going to get something really fast for cheap insruance can you afford the repair bills and probally more importantly are you mature enough for a fast powerfull car.
then address the points of how old do you want it to be, size, bothered about petrol consumption.
you would be best off getting something like a 106 raylle, starlet gt, corsa gsi, 106 gti, civic vti something like that as you will probs end up writing it off any way.
