Parker's little black book to find market value

however you can dispute the offer and have it raised normally!

Its current value and how much another one would cost, and what you payed in the 1st place.

parkers guide for cost, minus your excess
If you feel the amount is too low you can contest it and find examples of cars alike your own selling/being sold for more

Its a good thing really, because when you take out a policy your required to state a vehicle value price. The lower, generally the cheaper the quote. It would make more sense to take note of the price you say and go on this when a car is written off but people tend to come off better from it!

always quote a higher value than what u paid for your car when taking out insurance
I got my gf's first sport for £1500 of a mate cheap fair enough
told her to tell them she paid £2000 for it
it got written off and tried to find a replacement in the trader
all were around the £1500 to £2500 mark
the £1500 one were rough as
were as hers was really really tidy and would cost £2500 to replace
they would only offer £2000 for it as thats what she paid for it no matter if it was a cheap car off a mate
we argued that there were no other mates with "cheap" cars for sale and he agreed that it was very tidy but because we stated £2000 as the value thats as much as he was perpared to offer
he said if we said £2500 originally then that would be the figure paid out!
I argued and argued saying waht happens if we said it cost 5k would you pay that out? lol
so always over estimate the value my friends!

oh, forgot as well depends on policy type - mines an agreed valuation p[olicy - I have to send out numerous photos and all receipts; had an inspection last year ; and my car is insured for a value of £4500

however on a normal policy they take nominal market value

When both my pulsars were written off insurance man rang me and we both went on autotrader while on the phone and looked at what was available

also same happened with my mum, the insurance company rang her and said here is an identical car within 60 miles and here is the money to go buy it

me and my mate were talking the other day about this kind of thing and a few things came up that neither of us knew.

for example: the people next door to me always leave their car out and chav's tend to hang around the area. they came out 1 morning to find the car had been paint strippered. the car was a 03 plate corsa. the insurance have paid out for it to be repaired which is good for them. what would happen though if they left it out and the chavs ruined it again? would the insurance pay out again and again or would they write it off?

Plus i cant afford a new car at the moment.

Wanted to wait till after summer
