I'm selling my private plate to someone, the plate is on retension certificate. On the certificate it says to change details I have to fill in the change of details bit then send it to the dvla. It says it could take up to 3 weeks
My question is do I get the bloke to pay up and tell him he has to wait up to 3 weeks? Is there a quickier way.
Never sold a plate before, any got any details?

Emmm yeah there is. Would have to ask DVLA about it though how u could do it. I know u can go to the office and fill out a diff form and it puts the reg from your car to theirs straight away as long as both of u are there to sign the form. There might be another form u can fill out to give him ownership of it.
If not then thats the only way but get him to pay u first as as soon as he recieved the retention certificate thru the post thats it his
