on my lasses car, it crunches into reverse, and first and second are an arse to get into... so i'm guessing the clutch cable needs adjusting?!

looking in the haynes it's saying to adjust to the correct distance between the clutch down, and as it stands from the steering wheels. What should this difference in distance be? Or any idea on how I should go about adjusting it to be ok?

Thanks

Looking at the top of the gearbox at the front you will see like a fork/arm thing with a cable going into it. You need to unclip it from the fork and wind the nut thing in/out (cant remember which way) when you lock it back in the clutch pedal postition will have moved. I'd just go for getting it in line with the brake pedal, then go from there.

If its not the clutch adjustment it may be the gear linkage which is making it hard to select gears.
