I've been pricing up 4 new 215/40/17 tyres for my Astra. I can get both the above tyres fitted for roughly the same price, only £3 between the two, and they both seem popular/good tyre brands/choices.

But which is the better tyre for grip, handling, tyre wear, etc?...

I had the Eagle F1's on my GSi and wasn't impressed.

Car felt as ifit was sliding all over the road, and the wheels would spin at a hint of accelerator pedal when pulling out of junctions etc.

I've got Dunlop Sp 9000's on the Astra now and can't fault them. Good grip in the wet and dry. Think they're about £120 each though.

^

I had good year eagle f1's - couldn't fault them. Then had dunlop Sp 9000's - which were far shitter. Even the guy selling them to me said the goodyears would grip better due to being a softer compound - now have goodyear eagle f1's again!

Aye??

I had read all the reviews of the Eagle's and they raved about them, then I got them and felt they weren't all that.

Strange.

depends on the car TBH, like the Accord Type R, they only handle if they are on OE spec bridgestones

and its personal preference too, depends what you like really
