Do they just go straight in, inplace of the standard bolts ???

Thatīs right, and they come with instructions how to tighten them.

as far as im aware you need to put a nice big chamfer on the end cap thingy bit. but other than that yes

a countersink is an internal chamfer on a previously drilled hole

but if you were to say chamfer the big end cap, i'd file away at the edge of it
