Power steering is more comfortable, but some people prefer it without with tuned cars as you can feel more through the steering, plus less weight.

But are you seriously thinking of putting TB's on a 1.4?

Would be easier and cheaper to go for a 1.6 IMO

what he said

plus, if you want to raise the rev limit too far, the power steering pump starts to give up, doesnt like more than about 8000 revs

you wont get 180bhp from it without spending about 15 grand and revving to 10krpm

if you are looking for that power, buy a 1.6, its a waste of time money and effort to do it to a 1.4, believe me, i considered it and the power per £ just wasnt worth it when compared to the 1.6

you probably could, but its all stuff that you need that you dont think you need

to get 180bhp from a 1.4, you'd need a forged steel crank, rods and pistons

take a look at the price list on www.sbdev.co.uk

have a look at steel crank, rods and forged pistons, then tell me that you can build a 180bhp 1.4 cheaper than a 180bhp 1.6

it really isnt worth the effort, the 1.6 is a much better starting point, and for 4 or 5 grand, you can have a very very good engine, 180bhp is easy
