wanting to colour code my mirrors, what all will I need for this?

I presume its not as simple as painting straight on, will primer thn paint work?

rub down mirrors with 240-320 grit paper, clean off, spray 2-3 coats of primer leaving 5-10mins inbetween coats, leave for hour or 2, then using 600-800 wet and dry and water just give them a quick rub over, clean off again, then paint

rub them down just to roughen it up a bit in the 1st stage?

Where can I get the parts needed - grit paper, wet and dry

240-320 grit sandpaper you can get from halfords, wet and dry from halfords, plastic primer from halfords

at first depends if you want them totally smooth or wether you want to leave the kinda dimpled effect on them, but either way you need to rub them down abit so when you apply the primer it will stick to the mirrors

not bothered about the lines in them, just want them colour coded - make it look less like a 1.2

halford sell a pack with ldifferent grades for £2. they sell the paint too, not that good though if im honest, but it does the job. you'll want to laquer it too to give a gd finish. for this sand the finished paint off with 1200 wet and dry with lots of water on. sand it till its a matt colour and then blast a good few layers of laquer on leaving in between.

mertin, i didn't mean smooth the lines off, i was on about the dimpled texture to the plastic, i think it looks naff when painted over, would be better to smooth it all down and have it all smooth

another thing is take your time with it all, you don't want to rub through the primer/paint and you don't want to get runs in the paint/lacquer

ye, sounds about right, just use plastic primer instead of high build primer

yep, well trying to get a name for myself but if you read another post about boyracers car, i offer my services and get slagged off to hell, so doubt i'll get a name for myself on this board thanks to a few tossers on here
