seen something which does seem to good to be true on ebay, item is located in us, obviously worried as ebay is full of many scammers but buying something from us is even more worrying than from uk isnt like i'll be able to drive there if there is soem problem, ive checked feedback seems genuine but i believe the scammers even have ways around that now ?
Also when you items shipped over whats the score on getting hit with this import tax, ive heard stories of people paying postage then a further sum on top of that?
Thanks for any help

To get round import tax, it needs to state that the item is a gift.
That way, you no pay

Gift thing doesn't always work.
Only sure fire way of i is declaring it worth under a certain amount, 32 quid or something, but then you can't insure it if it's worth more.
If something on ebay looks too good to be true it most likely is.

my thoughts exactly, but feedback checks out its just the advert something doesnt quite fit, ive emailed the seller so can only go of the response i get from them i guess, ebay themselves are quite poor aswell with dealing with enquiries its always just a automated response or so it seems.

i would pay by paypal, then your covered.
you can claim back if item does not return.
as above, get them to say its a gift otherwise import tax may have to be payed.

ah right my main concern is that the seller might just vanish cancel ebay id etc? they have over 100 feedback scores and a 100% score but i seen something on the news where there are ways around how they get good feedback, if this is the case i wonder what paypal will do?

you will get the money back from paypal.
the money wont clear if you report the problem after 2weeks.
the will have access to his bank account and will withdraw the funds and put them back in your account.
can you look at the items he as sold and got feedback for?

^ paypal can not access and take back any funds from your bank account. They can only reclaim money back from your paypal account. If their is a zero balance then your paypal account will just go to debit. The next time you wish to use this then the debit will either be recovered or they may use Ebay tactics and pass on the debt to a collection agency.

Is it not normally only up to 500 quid?
They also only cover you for certain people.
