Very effective and impressive either way. 
I've been thinking about getting my birth year done in Roman numerals on my back or shoulder, possibly combined with a spoof copyright involving my Mother's name, for about 5 years now but still not sure as I have no other tats, and I know that once I start there's no looking back.
Would probably end up covered.

not intentional but now that you mention it... the guy who did it designed it from scratch, all i did was showed him the style of head and the format and he did it. drew one pic, gave it to me. a week later i came in he outlined it and drew it exactly like the picture free hand without lookin at it since. very talented guy. thanks for the comments anyway mate. how many tats you got??

That's the problem.
Your first one is a big step and you want to get the design and location spot on or you'll no doubt regret rushing it.
Have wanted one for donkey's years but never been sure of what to go for.
Allways wanted something original.
That's when i thought of the roman numerals thing. Sort of like a cross between a company logo/copyright and the date you get at the end of a film.
Trouble is i'm a nightmare when it comes to buying stuff.
I get loads of everything that i'm into, and if I got one tat, I could see it opening the floodgates and me ending up spending thousands and getting covered in the fuckers.
Have you seen prison Break? The sleeves and torso the fella had done is very cool and I could see me ending up with something like that. 
One of my mates is realy into his metal. He likes nothing else, but surprisingly, he has short hair and no tatoos. He's a handy fella to have around because if he had decided to go for one, we both probably would have by now, and no doubt when pissed up.
Two of my mates have got them and I know from what they've done that i'd end up doing the same.
They were both going to get just the one.
One of them now has about 4 or 5, and the other is bloody covered.
Yours is amazing though.
Puts me in mind of the sort of devil creature in 'End of days' or similar, and has realy got me thinking again about getting one done.
Hmm, decisions.

i had a few comments referring me to the tooth fairy in red dragon and that i whack off into my own faeces and stuff lol. i've seen people walk into the room when i'm havin a session, spend 2 mins lookin at his flash charts and say i want that one... not the smartest way to do it. i took 5 years thinkin about the exact tattoo i wanted. if you really like the idea, and the same idea still sounds good in 6 months i'd say do it mate.

Can deffo see it happening.
Came up with the idea a few years ago, and it's pretty much unchanged as a plan.
I still like the idea, so it may very well be on the cards unless I get inspired to do something different.
