I apologise for the essay! I would post this on CorsaC.co.uk as well, but their server seems to be having problems
I have a 1.2 Twinport, which imo sounds like a sewing machine! I was wondering if there is a way to butcher/derestict this so that it sounds beefier? My mate removed a bit out the bottome of the box today, which has made it slighly noisier, but not much.
We butchered the airbox on my 'B' and this sounded class!!!
Also, I will probably invest in a panel filter - do Pipercross do one? I have been told to try and avoid K&N as they can be a bit rubbish?
And finally, is there any air intake pipes from other bigger engined Vauxhalls that can be fitted in place of the standard Corsa one? (The pipe that sits just behind the grille). One of my mates fitted Vectra air intakes to a 2.2 Astra, and this made a nice induction roar!

its a completely different engine so will never sound as meaty as the older engines in the corsa b.
try drilling the bottom of the air box and getting a panel filter - either pipercross or k&n.
induction kits don't seem 2 do much on the corsa c - unless u get the pipercross viper one which works quite well.
top it off wiv an exhaust and maybe a straight tho centre pipe 2 get a better soundin car

As I still have 2 years of Vaux warranty remaining, I will be looking to invest in a backbox, but it can only be either Irmscher or Remus I guess (as these could be optional extras that Vaux offer?)
I will try to source a Pipercross Panel filter then
Is there no other option but to attack the box with a drill? Was hoping not to have to do that tbh!

Any of you clever people know what the annoying Sewing Machine Noise is coming from the Twinport engine? Would like to know if it is possible to shut this up, and get a beefier noise going?!

Vipers induction kits work well on the Z12XE engine but there is a black valve clipped on to the air box and if you do not put a rubber washer under the bracket you make for it. Makes the spanner light comes on the dashboard and you may find with a viper fitted the valve may make a clicking sound some times but it is ok it normal.

Hmmmm, may just stick to butchering out the 2 "silencing pipes" inside the airbox, and stick a Panel filter in, then save up for a backbox - dont wanna start confusing ECU's etc - all I want is a bit more noise!

i got a Universal viper for £50 new off me m8t works fine.
I do like Pipercross filters more than K&N but keep a look out on e-bay might get a viper for about £40 to £50 used and just get a Cleaning kit it would be as good as new

the noise is basically because it is chain driven engine, and the resonance of the chain is magnified by the design of the inlet manifold. as for warranty, fitting an exhaust wont affect the warranty unless the fitment of the exhaust is proved to have caused an item to have failed.
