If there has been head gasket failure then you will need to have the head skimmed. There is no point in even thinking about risking it because if you are paying a mechanic to do the work then you will end up spending millions on it when you have to take it back a few weeks down the line because it's gon again...
You need to replace the gasket, but it's good practice to replace the timing belt, idlers and water pump...
