Im having to design a web page for a college course on behalf of a company (work placement thing).
I was wondering if there was any form of software that you can use to practice on or design the page on it which is available. Also is is hard designing them from other peoples experiances

I write using straight HTML but if you're just starting out try and get a copy of Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage.
I build sites for a living so drop me a u2u if you need any help

easiest way to get a good looking website seems you havent done much will be to get hold of a copy of Macromedia Firefox and Dreamweaver. Design the website in Firefox (graphics programme) then slice it up so its fits into tables and cells in Dreamweaver. Not as complicated as it sounds to be honest either!

if you have no experience what so ever, then i would personally suggest getting a free template (from http://www.freewebtemplates.com ) and opening that in dreamweaver.
change the website to suit yourself, add your own text, pictures, (pictures can be modified using photoshop etc).
you can then also play around and have a bit of fun, insert java scripts for all sorts, just to get used to new things.
Starting from scratch with no experience is very hard.

I doubt he is allowed to do that seems its for a college course, if so its the easiest way to go if they dont want anything too much!

We use it at uni because it goes right from beginner to expert levels

I have Microsoft Front Page on my computer and have just had a look at it and i havent a clue where to start 
Would buying a tutorial from like amazon for this programme help me to use the programme
regarding it being for college, i believe i can use any form of software as its for a company.
The company dont have to use what ive designed, its just for me to have a day release to the company to work on it and for them to tell my college that i have designed something and have been visiting the company several times, i can also work from home on it so i dont have to go in every week

I just had a look at that free template site. I downloaded one and they are suprisingly easy to work with!!
Obviously its a major advantage knowing how to code though!!!
Will put up my efforts using a template later on tonight

I know abit about web design but that was my first attempt with a template.
Going to put alot of work into it and chane most of it around as I now have hosting
