Got mine today, 1st one ever I've been told to mention i've been doing higher grade work than what grade i am, (e.g im graded as a 3/1 and ive been doing 2/3 work) perhaps this means higher grade money

People in my team are very nervous about it, im not though

Tricky one, where I am you would probably just get a good box marking and a good write up stating that you are ready for promotion etc..

The only way you'd get the extra money here, would be if you were covering work for someone at the higher grade, i.e. deputising allowance.

thanks for that.

yeah, i know it wont be as easy to get more money out of the company. they have a marking scheme, and several boxes or catagories that we fall into. i bet nobody will be in the good box because they'll be intitled to 20% bonus, every one will get the average box i reckon.

If you are doing work that is more than expected at your grade how can they judge you as average?

If you get an average marking I would complain. Most appraisal systems have an appeal procedure.

Was the job downgraded then?

If you agreed to the job spec and it clearly stated what grade the job was, there's not much you can do but hope for a decent box marking.

yes your right patrick...

but i wonder if i will get a good box marking. because i was bought in on a 6 month contract to do one particular job, i finished that after a month, so everything after that job must be surplus to my grading at the time, and must be taken into consideration surely? and since then ive been doing more work, and been offered a new contract at higher grade level.

If you are so confused, I suggest you speak to your line manager. Appraisals are not supposed to come as a suprise. You should be getting constant feedback throughout the year (how it should work in theory!).
