my missus has been offered a new job so she goes and hands her notice in today. she has given two weeks notice, but the company are saying she must give 4 weeks. the thing is she was promoted a few months ago to a new job role, given new job title and description and no contract amendments. in my eyes she therefore has no contract thats valid.

what could they really do if she left after 2 weeks rather than 4? i know its illegal to give a bad reference and they have to pay her all outstanding money for hours worked and holidays owed so whats the worst that can happen??

if they didnt change the notice period in her contract, then surely she can leave after 2 weeks?

I would of thought so.

Did she not get a new contract, as even if she didnt sign it by taking it from her employers it is a sign of agreeing to it.
