I find this thing years ago, it doesnt have anything on the back and looks to be made out of iron or steel. Does anyone know the origin of it?

mmmm not a cap badge thats for sure, it looks like a collar badge

God i dunno, ollie might be able to help you. Could have been off some equiptment to identify which company etc it belonged too

crossed swords are from the british army logo, and the crown shows it could be british, the cross on the back could mean it was a chaplains badge

At first i would have said it was a badge of some sort but its completely flat on the back and one side is significantly thicker than the other like its been worn away.

could be looked at as a maltese cross. but then again the crown would suggest its british

No idea, never seen it before. Looks like a button to me, its not the above as the above is Royal Marines.

Now if it had been German I would have had a better idea.

I can ask though.

I think its an official letter stamp - would have been used in the 18th century by the British monarchy by dipping in ink & pressing onto a sheet of paper they were sending some peasant to inform them they were getting owned in the near future

measurements are about 33mm across. I would say the face is too rounded for it to be a stamp. Its got a curve to it. Wouldnt those sort of stamps be made of wood anyway? If you could ask, Ollie that would be cool.
