Thats actually a good thing to have said. I would possibly have explained myself a bit better, but the basic stance is the same. You need to be clear that if she absolutely must talk to you then you are there to support and listen to her (then do so  ) but that she set the space arrangement and all you're doing is adhering to her wishes.
Its like 'I'm a good guy' and 'don't say things unless you mean them' all rolled in to one.

Not all females are immature and needy attentionwise, my gf is ace, she doesnt' mind me swanning off to the boozer, inviting the boys round to watch football etc... we're a very laid back pair, think you need to look for someone like that chap!

well ive been talking to a girl recently, about my situation and she was in the same boat but it was her boyfriend etc.
shes real friendly and sounds totally awesome, not to mention pretty nice looking too
we'll see how that fairs out

been together 5 years this month and ever since i bought her a engament ring i hardly see my mates or go down the pub she wants to spens some "quality time togeter" lol been living together 2 years and see her every day!
