I think some people are over reacting somewhat here

If they have a suspicsion it is you then they will obviously suspend you. Makes sense really. They're not accusing you of anything, its just a precaution.

They can only take the matter further when they have solid proof. If the proof isn't 100% then its more than likely that they will just drop the matter & let you return to work.

Since you didn't steal anything they wont be able to find any proof.

The thing I would be worried about is that someone is obviously making false alogations against you. Maybe to cover their own back?

In the meantime enjoy your time off.......... you lucky bastard

They can suspend you if they have resonable grounds to do so. Its common to suspend someone who is accused of something whilst they conduct an investigation.

Being suspended doesnt go on your record unless you are actually found guilty of something.

The thing is, they can get away with crap like this because half the people working there are probably a bit dumb and will take shit. Kick up a fuss.

I would approach your managers immediate manager before you go back in - phone them, have everything written down ready so you can tell him clearly an account of what happened & the proceedings taken against you & the awful way it was handled, explain to him you want to go back to work but would like to see something done, steps put in place so this doesnt happen again!! In other words sort his management out!! If you just quit it wont bother them too much - if you need the job keep it but try to kick up a fuss!!
