Just had my renewal through from Admiral, the quote was £873. I phoned them up to tell them about my carbon bonnet exhaust and lights.
Policy went upto £921. Thats best price I have had so gave them the go ahead to renew at the start of march when my new policy would come into play.
Put the phone down, then realised it still had my old job on the policy and I also do less miles a year now as I walk to work. So I phone back, this time im on hold for 10 minutes but didnt care so much when an english person answered the phone. I explained I was now a partner in a business, they title this job a shop proprietor, and that because I walk to work I would do roughly 2,000 miles a year less. The Lady puts me on hold, then comes back and says my renewal will now be £1,030 and that I also need to give them £21 because my jobs higher risk.
So I cancelled the renewal as I refuse to pay over £1,000 but still owe them £21.
Seems a bit of a joke to me how I have taken on more responsibility, use my car less but this pushes the premium up more than a carbon fibre bonnet, cat-back exhaust, morettes and MHW rear lights does
Sorry about the essay/rant

With my old insurance policy, I added Morettes, a downpipe-back s/steel exhaust, smoked side repeaters, aftermarket rear lights, and a BFO cone-filter......total addition from insurance company? £16
I then moved house a few months later, from my parents house (where the car was parked on the driveway), to my own house (where the car was locked in a garage)......total addition to policy (for the remaining half-year)? £65
I guess moving from a B rated postcode to an F* rated postcode makes quite a difference!

There's one thing I hate more than paying insurance, its paying to change details.
I got stung for £38 to move 3 miles down the road within the same post code sector.

What was your old job?
Partner must be higher risk.
Although I hate insurance companies.

My old job was in a solicitors, my job title there was Legal Assistant though I was technically a trainee Legal Executive as I was doing a college course. I jacked that in to become a partner in my families business,

Possibly Kerry, although I dont and wont, and they shouldnt assume I will be.
The lady on end of phone said it was because what I do now was higher risk. But I still fail to see how my job puts premium up more than modifications.

Its all statistical - more claims off people in that occupation. Plus there's risk with parking by commercial premises etc.
Doesn't reflect the risk at all of course.

I understand that Ian. They tar everyone with the same brush though. I walk to work and my car stays in my driveway all day.
Nevermind though. I am going to ring around and hopefully get it cheaper

i had an insurance hike from moving out the town centre to the middle of nowhere i reckon theyre on the blag, my theory is they reckon rich people will live in the middle of nowhere so will be willing and wont notice if they bump up these "richer" areas premiums

That was from an inital renewal premium from Norwich Union of £103 a month TPFT which is pathetic...
