m not sure what engine to go for

got a 1.0 at the minute so anything is going to be better

but i want it to be fairly quick but not be too much of a pain to insure as im only 20 with no ncb

want to rebuild it before putting it in and probably get some cylinder head work done probably lightend and balaced bits as well

so whats the best to go for???

I wouldn't put a Nova GSi engine in a late Corsa. You need to sell this car at some point.

Find a Sport and tune that. You get free electric windows and better seats as well.

you can just replace the inlet manifold, fit a set of cams and get it re-mapped and it'll run 125 Bhp+

the only thing with the xe is insurance atleast with a 1.6 it will like insuring a corsa sport?

sound reasonable power too

is the 1.6 conversion easier or pretty much the same?

sell the 1.0, buy a 1.6 sport.

False economy making your car into something.
Cant you move all the good bits from your 1.0 to the new 1.6?

just a suggestion but what about an early nova GTE engine. First off if you can prove the engine date you can run legally without a cat, withno cat u can then run webber 40s. The little 1.6mpi engine is super easy to work with (remember only one cam lol) parts are cheap as chips second hand. Huge range of cams for the 1.6 8v, had a great big valve head, really good flowing head, ppl say that the only mod needed to the head is to polish the ports as the head is that free flowing. If you go with the twin carb route, your saving loads of money in not getting you ecu remapped for mods like aftermarket cams when fitted, and the early engines had a dizzy so don't need an aftermarket ignition system. The engine was only 100bhp as std, whereas the x16xe was higher (something around 108bhp dunno but some1 here would luv to jump in and correct me) There's alot of power to be had from the 1.6 8valve, any of those 16 valve engines are quite expensive to buy perfromance parts for and are not as straight forward to work on. Anyhow as said its a good suggestion if you wanna get more power but have a budget.

c16xe out of the std corsa engines. If you want more then 150 on the road id argue for the 20xe tho purely for the torque curve.

How is an xe conversion going to cost 1500 quid? Im building a valver at the moment and the whole project budget is 1000 and that includes the car pmsl.

Its a ragaround over the summer, i have AA membership, I have no need for reliability!

Na, seriosly, the main bits will be done right, I broke a cally for the engine etc, so equal length shafts as well. Its getting the knuckles machined for golf synchro bearings and big block hubs. Cav turbo front brakes, new bushes etc and decent tyres (rainsports or gsd3's) It will however have a std engine with 84k on it, in a std corsa merit in white.

Should be a barrel full of laughs!

so you agree if you were doing it as your daily driver and reliability was an issue, 1500 is a reasonable budget?
