This was my original email
Good morning.
I recently placed an order with yourself (i.e. the above reference) for some parts for a Vauxhall X16XE 1.6 16v powered Corsa Sport.
When I placed the order I asked for a "cam belt kit" which Vauxhall describe as the "complete" kit bar the water pump to complete a cam belt change on the aforementioned engine.
The reason the order was placed with yourself was for a couple of reasons the first being good reports for knowledge and good customer service, the second being that the tensors you supply are metal items as to the stock Vauxhall plastic items which are prone to failing.
I was told the items were in stock and would be shipped to me next day. The situation was critical my end as I was unable to use my car for fear of a suspect cam belt, thus I was relieved that I could have my car on the road as soon as possible.
To your credit you did actually take the time to ring me and inform me that the items were not in stock after the order had been placed and that the items would arrive in approximately 4 days, I was pleased with the service I had received as many companies do not take this time to make problems known, however I was disappointed that a discount for delivery was not offered as a goodwill gesture as I had anticipated that I would have the items within 24 hours.
The "kit" arrived on the Saturday morning, for me to find just two metal tensors. Whilst I appreciate this many construe your "kit" I was not informed this did not include the cam belt at all, I felt very disappointed, as I believe a friend has an older example of the same kit where the cam belt was supplied (which was a cheaper price as well I may add) Thus I had to purchase a Cam belt at my own additional cost.
Whilst I have written the above and read it back to myself I can see that in actual fact normal business practice has been followed but im disappointed that I have been charged £11 for delivery, when I was told it would be £6, and the "kit" come supplied without the cam belt.
I felt the need to write and express my concern, that should anyone else order a cam belt kit, that you advise them of what it actually includes. As most will be under the impression that the kit form is the Vauxhall variant (with cam belts and the other items) with metal tensors supplied which is obviously not the case.
Thank you for taking the time to read my experience.
I look forward to hearing from you.
This is their reply
Thank you for your detailed email. Sorry to hear you feel your order was not processed as you expected. We always try to provide our customers with a
good service, but
occasionally mistakes do happen. Your valid points have been noted for
future reference.
With regard to the carriage charge, this was an error on our part and you were over charged on the weight of the parcel. It should have been sent on a 1kg special delivery and the not the 2kg which you were charged. We will happily raise a credit note for the £2.34 +VAT difference and allocate this
to your account, to be deducted from any future purchases.

sbd are usually very good.
i didnt expect a belt when i ordered my tensioners from them and they arrived the next day exactly as described. they have also taken hours of their time to help me out with problems when i have rang them and always give good advice.
i suppose they should state that you dont get a belt with the kit.

I have two gripes with SBD
1 - they're overpriced for what you get.
2 - They'll very happily sell you stuff that's not suitable for road use, without explaining the limitations. Like their valve springs which they recommended for my engine and which shattered after just 5000miles destroying my engine. When I approached them about the situation they basically said "tough - we rebuild our engines every 1000 miles. That's what you should have done." Pity they didn't explain how sh*t their springs were before I bought them
