Just saw this advert on men and motors...
"I was in the passenger seat of the car, when we turned across the road and a lorry hit the side of the car ... bla bla bla... I claimed and got £5000"
Basically the car pulls across the on coming traffic (where there's a lorry coming) ... so how is it the lorrys fault and how can they call 'claims direct' to sue the lorry driver?
If you see the advert its so pish.

i've seen that one. and the other car one where the chick in the montego gets thwacked by a mondeo. she got like £7,500 cos he crossed into her lane. serves her right for driving a car from the 70s.
IMO its nothing to do with claims companies, you should only claim through insurance of the person.
a world gone mad.....

but the joke with the one I just saw... is that the lorry was not in the wrong...
It's like me pulling out infront of a moving car and getting hit... then me saying it was their fault for not letting me out
doesn't work...

There was a scam in area about this a while ago. A group people in shite carswould slow down then flash people to let them out of junctions, then accelerate into them saying the other guy pulled out infront of them. then used to money from insurance to spend on whatever they wanted.
like you said, that lorry driver would have gone bust and possibly lost his liscence.

yeah i'd say they're making out its the lorry's fault so you'll call up then when u call they'll tell u yeah u can make a claim but you'll have to screw your mate(/gf/mum/dad whoever was driving car you were in) over to do it! I hate these ambulance chasing companies!

He's got a point. The whole sue everyone culture started over there, and it's something this country picked up.
One of those adverts has something along the lines of "I was loading my truck and they didn't give me a ladder." so the guy climbed onto the side of the truck, fell off, and injured himself. He sued for something like £7k, despite it being HIS fault that HE climbed onto the truck and fell off.

I totally agree, thats why i'm laughing. Only the yanks could let a woman who spilt hot coffee on herself sue McDonalds for it burning her. WTF is that about!

exactly! and its not just accidents! its the whole US culture in general if you dont tell me something thats blatently obvious that any reasonable human being would grasp without being told its your fault. Hence the King knong Burger King advert at the moment where the burger crushes the car and they have to say at the bottom of the screen 'burger not actual size!!!!!!' come on! thats just having to go far too far!

a passenger in a car can claim against the drivers insurance if the accident is caused by them dont have to claim against the lorry it will have been the car driver they claimed against
