Ok, ive been recieving these letters from scammers everyday (as im sure most people do).
Telling me that one of their closest relatives has died, left them a large sum of money and they are indeed dieing themselves, bla bla bla.
They need someone to leave the money to who will put it to a good use bla bla bla.
So ive decided to play along for a while just to see what will happen.

Can anyone tell me what these scams are about? how they work? im not actually sending them anything/any money, so how are they benifiting?

ask him what hes dying of and why he thought you are someone worthy of taking his money. Then tell him you have murdered your father and if he still thinks you deserve the money

yeah they'll ask for bank details.

Most people know not to give too much detail (as in acc number and sort code) but some will tell them more if they ask as dont know any different. Plus with your name, sort code and acc number they could probably do some damage if they knew how!

you can really have a laugh with these email scammers.
I made out I was the priest of Bournemouth and how I was going to donate the money to a childrens charity.
I asked him to send a photo of himself so we could pray to him to say thankyou
These emails went on for a few weeks, he even sent me a certificate stating the amount of money I was going get, it was obvious it was made in word
I then sent another email pretending it was a photo of our church group but it was really a virus that I received from someone else
I then told him to G T F

I was bored but it was fun
