i know your not going to like me saying this, but i think its time i finally get a dodgey MOT done.

thing is, my private reg is tuck on a car which is in a bit of a state, a mechanic has the car at the mo and says he'l fix the car up so itl get through an MOT and then i can get my plate off it, however this mechanic is a waste of time and will take him years to do anything.

so i i was to get a MOT pass for the car (sumhow), when i come to transfer the reg will the dvla inspect the car that it is coming off?

or any ideas on what to do, cos i dont have the space to do up the car myself.

I had my corsa inspected when i took the plate off; this was only because the car had been SORN for well over a year when i got it. All they check is the chasis number matches the car and the v5; not the quality of the MOT itself

the only reason why dvla check the car is to see if the chassis number matches so that wudnt work.

but surely if they wer to check the car they would pick the car that its going on wudnt they?

You dont have to take the car to them, they can come to you and check; could quite easily have had the MOT then the work began; could be a tricky one tho. They dont check anything apart from chasis numbers as i hadn't changed my log book to a 2.0 and was a bit worried about it but it didnt matter.
