i know these are standard is South Africa - but what about UK MOT?

Yea mate, as long as they have tailight, brake, fog, indicator and reverse lights, with a reflector which I can see surrounds the clear section, then they are fully legal.
If you want to make sure for certain, u2u Voyto, as he had them on his old Corsa.
