Right, I know loadsa people rant on about insurance, but I'm sure somebody is taking the piss a bit here. Last year, I was insured TPFT with My Mum as named driver with Direct Line - This was £1100. It runs out on the 29th and Im now shopping around for quotes to go alone and Fully Comp. I have obviously "tinkered" slightly with the Corsa over the year - I have added Vauxhall Sport Alloys, Irmscher Boot Spoiler and also, Im declaring 35mm GMAX Springs as these are currently on their way. I went back to Direct Line to get a quote - they won't insure my car as it is modified and Im under 25. I then tried EVERY insurer off of the list on here, quotes varied from about £1800 and the best I got today from Endsleigh Insurance - £2650!!!!! Phoned Quinn Direct today - they can insure me for £1350 with a Years Named Driver NCB I have earned from Direct Line - with all Mods Declared. Now, I'm 18, The Car is barely Modded and I live in the lowest Crime Rated Postcode area (GU) So WTF is up?! Sorry for the rant but can anybody explain to me why my insurance seems so ridiculously expensive?!

but its still then classed as a modded car which will bump your premium up.........have you tried to price it up standard to see how much more expensive it actually is with these mods done

Well I can just about, but I just don't get why they don't think about it - the bits I've used are available on higher spec models - i don't get why they have to put the price up so much. Is £1350 fairly reasonable then really?

see how much it is standard before you decide if expensive or not.......to be fair if 1 years ncd is 10% but premiums have gone up 15% then you would still pay more even with the discount

I love a quote of 1350, but its becuase your car has high model parts on it therefore may appear as a higher model to theifs

Well I just don't want to run the risk that if I do have an accident or whatever, the insurance company then turning around and saying because I didnt declare them, my insurance is invalid

Yeh true. Just annoying that I havent actually modified my car that much that it makes such a difference to the price! Glad I shopped around though - took bloody ages! Thank god for Quinn Direct I gues - they're a hell of a lot cheaper than anywhere else!

Im not paying for a sex change to get cheaper insurance! I did try Liverpool Victoria though - they were fine until I mentioned I was lowering it - apparently its a Performance Enhancing Mod and Im too young for them to insure that!
