went to edinburgh yesterday in the car. is about 14 miles from where i live, when i got to my destination, i heard a thump from the engine bay and sounded like my exhaust had blown. my battery light was on aswell.
had a look inside and noticed that my fan belt was hanging off. thought i could just put it back on but it wont go tight, think its maybe stretched.
also, my power steering stopped working.
managed to get all the way home again without it though (though i would chance it  )
took it down my mechanics today, and he says it doesnt look good.
anyone had this problem before? and should i be worried?

not sure mate. not had a decent look at it to be honest. my knowledge of engine's is very limited.
