Welcome

1.0 12v is a good choice for a new driver, the 1.2 8v is really sluggish. If you can stretch to it the 1.2 16v (SXI) is also good. SXI has many perks including better interior, tinted glass, alloys, colour coded bumpers & often more electrics.

You'll need to shop around though to get one for that price, not impossible though!

the 1.2 8v will be the cheaper out of the 2 to buy and would probably be the one i'd go for. I had a 1.0 12v and it was ok, but the 1.2 8v engine has been around for years and is a pretty strong engine.

The 1.2 8v are pretty tough yeah. But they've been around for ages (means older model) & he only wants the car for a short amount of time.

Envoy gets you the same 16v 1200cc engine but lower trim options. Another one to consider

Get the 1.2 8 valve mate, it's bulletproof so great for a first car. Will take much more hammering than the 16 valve will, even if it does less when you do hammer it!
