Sam maidenhead is no better.
Still got the rudeboy asains and the chavvy white boys.
A subway 2 seconds from my house by the town centre was where my mate was beaten unconciuos for being a whiteboy walking to his house (30sec walk from where it happened to see his wife and kid.
Had knives on them but didnt use them luckily he escaped with only a concussion

Regardless of what time of day it was that doesnt look like a very safe place to walk through...

from what he has said there is no other way to get over the road. Looks as if their are barriers all the way along the central reservation so would have to get over that to cross!

While I was there with my mum there were two Kosovans/Polish/whatever people were sat on one of the steps with some tins of beer looking very interested in my camera... 
Ally - she is one of these types of people that refuses to let people like the scum that were about to attack her win kind of thing.
Now for her sins she does not like travelling anywhere on her own any more, not even in a taxi or a bus or anything, scared etc. because of what happened.

Yeah but she's not really interested in the money, she isn't the sort of person that cries compensation every time something happens to her, she just wants that stupid council to do something about it and make this God-forsaken place a bit safer for people.
I myself felt uneasy taking pics there earlier looking at the dodgy scummy people walking down there and those foreigners sat on the steps eyeing up my camera. I personally think she was mad to ever use that subway but she is stubborn and refuses to let scum win.

They sent her a letter back in December claiming that they would investigate the matter and deal with it ASAP, but they have done nothing.

Yes but do we have to live in a society where it's socially acceptable for this sort of crap to happen, and for the council (whom we pay council tax to for police and other services) to not be arsed about it?

What do you expect her to do? To not go anywhere that involves going past the subway? To have to wait for someone else to be available so she doesnt go on her own?

To cross the road above the subway/find an alternate route if you know there is a high chance of somthing happening?

The only other way of crossing the road overground is to walk further down the road in that first pic towards Tesco and cross the road there, but then that puts her in completely the wrong part of the High Street she needs to go to, plus she can't walk uber long distances for medical reasons (problems with her spine).
She just likes to be independant and doesn't like relying on other people to give her lifts or having to pay for transport when she can easily work the (short) distance herself for free.

I appreciate that if there isn't an alternate route then you may find yourself walking through bad areas, just be careful if she has formed that-strong-an-opinion that she will continue to go into bad areas because she doesn't want to inconvenience herself that she is increasing her chances of being mugged/attacked/flashed etc
I admire what she thinks, and understand that no, we should be afraid to go into places, but at the end of the day that is the world today, there are people out there to hurt other people thats just the way it is, all we can do is bring it to the councils attention and push them into taking action to prevent stuff like that happening

No Ally I haven't taken anything you've said the wrong way. 
This particular council is just a big joke though, we get charged stupid money for council tax, and apart from them making life easy for ethnic minority (or should that be majority) groups in this town, they don't care about anything else.
I hope that even maybe one of the local rags does a story on this, then maybe this might make the council wake up and sort themselves out, instead of lining their pockets with our cash and looking after foreigners more than the people that actually have legitimate reasons for living here.
