Right I am giving some serious thought to changing from my corsa to something with RWD for some fun on track days etc

I have seen the e36 318 ti compacts and I really like the body shape (most will disagree with me but fcuk ya :lol
The engine is 140bhp so not too bad and I know its a 1.9

But can anyone tell me any good and bad points about said car?

You can't hurl a standard issue E36 around, it just doesn't work. Theres no LSD so they just spin 1 wheel and go no where.

Bad points you will be driving a BMW, therefore you automatically qualify at being a cunt!

On a serious note will be a good car i should imagine, BMW's good quality cars. Duno whether it will be too much fun round a track but im just guessing.

What about something Jap and rear wheel drive?

i like the look of them, and, with a bit of work, you can bodge the 750i V12 lump into it

M3 engined one would be nice

only thing with them is, most have done millions of miles as they make good "young rep"mobiles

seriously wouldn't get a 318, they are very slow and won't feel like 140 Bhp. You'll be lucky to be able to swing the back end out! and if you do it'll just bog down. Go for somthing bigger engined.

Well a friend of mine has e30 318 is and thats good fun round the track. We went to a drift day at oulton park on sat and it drifts pretty well even without an LSD

I am 19 with only 1 years NCB so insurance is still a killer so cant go for anything too powerfull. Also as I am a student petrol and servicing is an issue.

I want something low powered to start with to see if i like the RWD thing and then when funds alow will probably upgrade to a s14a which is a dream car of mine

Doug i think during the course of this thread you have answered your own questions. Go for it if its what you want, dont need approval from us, at the very least test drive one?

He wasn't asking approval, he has his mind set on getting one and wanted to know good or bad points about them.
As said the coupe is a better drive but the compact is a nice looking car especially the later ones.
I'd say go for it, step up from a corsa anyway.
