decks connect to a special soundcard with ASIO drivers which then tells the PCDJ scratch how fast or slow the vinyl is moving basicly.
can do everything you can do with normal vinyl including scratch

got the decks, mixer and headphones off ebay
software and soundcard direct from PCDJ uk (who are based in the same city as me which was handy for a demo)

they gav me a cheap deal cos i went to their office i think.
ur decks need to have an out put to Line level (like my stantons) if u have 1200's or 1210's u need some pre-amps on each deck. there only about £15 each tho
time coded vinyl should only be about £20, or thats what they said to me anyway.
There are other soundcards that work with the software, but the maya is the one they reccommend

My computer has inbuild RCA and bits on the soundcard, and my mixer has line output also
Any idea where i can get these timecoded vinyls?

ring them on 08707 601150 (number taken from pcdj.co.uk)
they'll be able to supply the vinyl tat works with their software
as for the soundcard, i still you'll need a different one that is ASIO compatiable (Audio stream input output)

how can the startup on the Technics be quicker? have you actually used a PDX2000? its like pressing play on a cd, its near instant
and 'all the cra' on the vestax is useable. depends if you just mix same old way or if your creative and do some crazy shit

Ive only used them a couple of times to be honest. Once was when I was half cut and the DJ never turned up so was asked to step in for a favour.

crazy shit being? playing records backwards maybe? the technics startup can be tweeked as can the electronic brake... however i dont see the need for this anyways cos to mix a tune in properly yer going to me holding it with your hand on startup.... to get beat alignment...

crazy stuff being mixing different genres of music with ease because you have more than 8% pitch control.
i cant be arsed to sit here and explain it all. im way too hungover for this.
Vestax are better, full stop

technics pitch can also be tuned to run up to +16 pitch however anything over +8 makes the song sound like the chipmonks are singing it 
there is one thing i like about the vestax and thats that theres dont have a stupid little ballbaring that the technics have at there normal quartzlock pitch... but really thats the only advantage i see...

I am going to get some decks to learn on and to see if I enjoy it. I get too annoyed at my mates I think it's cos; everyones watching. I have never tried that hard and never matched a beat yet but i've only tried about 4 times in 3 years
I enjoy listening to the music that should help I think some funky vynil is required for starters cos' it looks alot easier to mix

if you learn how to get beats together it can reck your head in a club when a shit dj keeps letting his beats go out of sync... even a tiny a bit that others wouldnt notice can reck your head...
