what ever is the max size of pistons you ca get for it is the safest size. i doubt you would get it up to a 1700 though

You can probably change the 1.6 into a true 1600cc, maybe 1650 and the 1.4 into a true 1400cc or maybe 1450cc...

thought the 1.4 was just the same block as the 16 just a smaller bore

you can get the x14xe to a 1.6 but you need the x16xe bottom end

som what your saying is to make the 1400 a 1600 you need the 1600 bottom end? lol

you would have to remove the engine from the car and strip it down, then send it off to engineers to get an over bore, then buy 4 new pistons and rings and all new gaskets and bearings.

Actually, I had my c16xe bored to 1657, not much over, aparently had a different head gasket, not sure about piston rings my of been slightly bigger not sure, but it can be done, only had this done because it sliped a shell.
