I agree her lines did look neat - I thought this as I watched.

But it did seem a little bit fishy, especially with that one shot of her in the car as she exited a relatively slow tight bend, but sounded like she was in 4th.

In my opinion on exiting a corner, you would want to be in the power band not under it. I've done several track days in different cars and I've never thought, lets leave this in a high gear so that I have no acceleration out of the bend.

Ok spinning the wheels mid corner is not good, but to maintain grip and direction of the car in a front wheel car you must still have some sort of drive through the front wheels and so a high gear may not of been best especially in such a low powered car.

Any good driver can keep the car in the power band, (i.e. a lower gear) - take a corner with drive through the wheels and exit accelerating. What your assuming is that if you changed down gear, you'd floor it round the bend, which I agree may not be for the best.

why would top gear / bbc lie about the times? they have nothing to gain, her lap looked good, she got fastest time, job done - just watch, don't analyse the shit out of it

Yeah but that assumes two things:

Your thoughts were the fastest way around the corner.

Your car had a narrow powerband.

That Suzuki thing must be flat as a pancake.

Wasn't she braking as she crossed the line though?

She stopped after it.

I've just watched it again - she was certainly not in fourth coming out of hammerhead. Maybe third, but it certainly doesn't sound bogged.
