just booked my car in for MOT and they told me to bring the V5 with me but its at my other house 30 odd miles away. is it essential to bring it?

need v5 now, well i did. all computerised, so they can track cars without MOT etc

the m.o.t has changed apparently or so my mate who works in a garage has said, you now need to take the v5 and the certificate that you recieve upon the vehicle passing mot is an a4 size now also..
