press ups/sit ups are alright at first but after a while it will just become endurance training and will not exert the muscle enough for growth - speaking from a bodybuilding point of view.

Best bet is using a rower machine for cardio if you have access to one. Failing that and you want to get fit quick in your own home I strongly recommend starting out on 3 sets of 20 press-ups and 3 sets of 20 situps a night (depending upon your current level of fitness), every night. Takes a matter if minutes. And increase the exercises in terms of number of sets and number of reps in each set every week so that you really push yourself. Pressups are great a great exercise all round... cardio fitness, stamina building and strength increasing. The same goes for situps but they work the mid-section where as press-ups focus on the upper and lower body. You should load the exercises so that every set you struggle to push the last 5 or so reps out, that's when most gains take place. If you want some info on fitness and techniques, etc U2U me mate as am really into my fitness. Cheers and hope that helps.

let me just clarify this mate, you own a gym and think situps are one of the best exercises?

No DNA23!!!

I personally am beyond the cardio fitness stage and am more into the weight lifting and bodybuilding stage with a bit of cardio to get the blood pumping before I work my muscles out, warm up and to keep on top of the cardio.

I simply stated that press-ups, situps, etc. would be a sure-fire way and probably the best starting method to get Teddy on the road to fitness without going to a gym and which can be done within his own home cheaply. Everyone needs somewhere to start from and i'm just offering him the ebst advice that I can give him.

And even though i'm into ym bodybuilding yeah of course I still do pressups and situps, no point just working out one or two muscle groups and over-develop them as you'd look daft. So all mucsle groups have to be covered.

Does that clarify it further or are you still going to swing your handbag around eh?

i used to bodybuild and researched into it alot, i also used muscletalk abit but mainly stuck to bodybuilding.com and had never heard anyone say muscle memory is bullshit. If you actually read what has been said, no one actually recommended creatine.

wanna get fit...

- Have a good diet (this is just as if not more important that the actual exercise!)
- Keep up plenty of cardio work

Thats how to get fit, building muscle, etc. is something different altogether but I dont think your after this.
