Going for first session tonight with a mate....neither of us know how to play. Anyone summarise the basics....like serving..scoring?

serve from your own box in the back quarter to above the top line on the wall and it has to fall in the next quarter.

american scoring you get a point for each thing one.
english scoring you can only win a point from your own serve and switch serve if it was the opponents

english scores up to 15 i think and american 21 iirc.

keep the ball above the bottom line at the front and below the top line around the front and sides.

and mind your racket on the walls.

heat up the ball before you start because yellow spots especially dont bounce well when cold

if you win a point on your own serve do you then swap sides like in badminton?

yep

only the serve has to land in the rear half of court. from there on the whole thing is in play.

watch some other people from the gallery before you go on and you'll get the idea in no time
