Thats right. No retest for Drink Driving. If you get the DDR (Drink Drivers Rehab scheme) you get 1/4 off. So for 36 months ban you get 9 months off!!!

The only mandatory retest is for Dangerous Driving. Unless in sentencing it is stipulated, which it can be for any bannable offence. But that rarely happens.

You only have to re-take your test for certain offences, or if the magestrates decide you need to re-take your test.

The lad along the road from me got banned for 9 months for drink driving but didnt have to re-sit his test, was kind of ironic becasue I'd seen him totally plastered and drive home but the night he got caught he'd only had 3 bottles of stella

I drank some water whilst driving the other day. Does this mean I would get in trouble?

understand completely lads but theres bound to have been a time in urlife that u have drunk driven n maybe not even realised. i was caught the morning after n failed the roadside test, arrested n taken to the police station where i did the proper test n passed narrowly. that makes u think. that was at around 11 am the next morning. dont get me wrong i dont agree with it at all but saying things like drunk drivers shud be jailed for 10 years is ridiculous in my eyes...

stevie there is a difference of 'drunk' driving and driving under the influence.in my eyes anyway, you didn't knowingly have x amount to drink and drive home etc...

maybe not a difference where police is concerned....

maybe some mornings yeah i must admit i could have been in your situation..

I am talking about ppl who knowingly go and drink 3,4,5,6,7,8 pints or whatever and get into a car...

Me my missus and kid were hit head on by a drunk driver 4 months ago and missus still not recovered fully..

But i do know where you are coming from on the morning after issue....

i think your 'ridiculous'
