how come when calculating ranking points, they take into consideration fifa confeds cup matches and award x1.75pts?

for one, i dont understand how they select the teams to play, i thought some of the countries were invited to play, and how come they should be allowed the advantage the confeds cup is a micky mouse tournament and its taken seriously by fifa in the rankings.

anyway, the rankings are not a solid guide to follow, any team can have a shit match and win, any team can dominate the game and still lose in a final, just like when france beat italy in 2000, and zoom to number 1 in the world.

They select the teams to play by......
1 Next world cup hosts (Germany)
2 Current world cup champions (Brazil)
3 Euro Champions (Greece)
4 Asian Champions (Japan)
5 South American Champions (Not sure if Argentina came second)
6 African Champions (Tunisia)
7 Australasian Champions (Australia)
8 CONCACAF rank 1 (Mexico)
