Ok, now that i am seriously thinking of changing cars, i am possibly thinking about an astra coupe turbo as well as couple of others.
Few qs
what bhp are they?
Do they all have heated leather seats?
what size engine?
Do they come with traction control?or was it an option?#
Do they all come with computer?
Are they reasonable on fuel?
Are they easliy tunable?
Are they worth buying?
sorry i no theres quite a few qs there, but i no very little about them and i know quite a few members have or have had them.
cheers
mark

187 bhp although some people say it's underestimated (I'm yet to RR mine so who knows). It's torquey though (~200 lb-ft IIRC) and easily tunable. Phase 1 is 238bhp and 274 lb-ft...
Heated seats tends to be those with all leather seats, or as an option on other seats...
All have traction (engine and braking) and ESP (electronic stability program). All have the trip computer.
I get around 32mpg on average (half and half town motorway)...
I'm REALLY happy with mine. Look great with the Irmscher kit (<-- see avatar), nice build quality, nice extras on the turbo (like the interior, 308mm front discs, sill protectors, and suspension, etc)...
The GSi/SRI Turbo are very boy racer cars -- the Coupe has a bit more of an exec/class look IMHO.

TBH mate and talking from experince here...the astra will bore you after the GT4.
You would have to tune it a lot to get it upto the accerlation standards. Then your sacrificing drivability and reliability.

GT4 parts are stupidly expensive tho, reliability isnt a problem if its done properly. Obviously there no match for a GT4 performance wise, but i suspect the newer car and lower running costs ae more appealing in this case.

All reasuring, kind of power i am after, and was hoping for tc and few other toys, like the idea of computer too.
Agree with you about the gsi and sri, they are nice cars, but i think the coupes look a bit more special.
Yours looks great, is colour i would want or possibly silver........

I was tempted by one but had to go for a VAG car again. id pick a VAG car over a vauxhall any day.
Why not go out and have a few test drives of the 3 you are looking at and see what you think?

I know what you mean Alan, but i am kind of after a compromise, want better fuel economy and cheaper insurance and something more refined. i knwo it wont have the kick of the 4 but it wont be half as thirsty either!!
May get bored with it in time, but well be nice to have new car and something less in your face.
Your to right adam the parts arnt cheap, which is something i wont miss!!

yeah i think that well be the best bet, no harm in going to a garage for test drive, even if i dont have the intention of buying there and then

pretty much spot on but alot of Astra Coupes on A-s with the Z20LET engine have pulled 197bhp as standard on the rollers,
There is no difference engine wise between any of the MK4 Turbo models, just some seem to be quoted at different BHP in TV and by Vauxhall themselves,
Also if you are thinking of buying the Astra Coupe Turbo, here's a mod for you to think about,
the New VXR Astra's turbo will cost you £500 from Vauxhall, along with a actuator which is £100 (they advis eyou to change the actuator and for reasonable gains you should)... a Hybrid turbo retails at £800, the VXR turbo unit compared to the Hybrid would be a much better mod aswell, giving you slightly more power when you come to doing the remaps and engine upgrades,
Yet to see the figure for this mod but from what i have been told it's worthwhile

Yeah i suppose your right about compromise brody
BUT
After my scooby i doubt i will ever have a car that will offer what it gave me.I mean you can have all the power in the world but it will still be a front wheel drive.
I've got a BMW 323i coupe now which i havn't put pics off because i'm fitting a few mods first It shifts and has great quality. The insurance is very cheap for what it is.Maybe you should consider one? 6 cly motors are lovely Oh and the MPG ain't to bad either!

Yeah i know what you mean, the power delivery in the 4 is awesome(especially of full boost) and tbh, there is so much torque and grip, that you dont even need any fancy traction control systems! its just when yopu can practicly see the needle goin down its a little depressing at the same time ! lol
Beemers are nice, didnt realise the 6 cylinders were ok on juice, may have too look into them. tbh though would want an e46 if i went for one, seen a fewer high milage examples in my price range.....

Much like the Calibra MPG computer, absolute rubbish when you go around a corner it flicks and changes, to ridiculous readings.
