I hope you can all help me, Im supposed to be conducting a focus group on the adverts for the above shown in 2004, the Peter Kay No Nonsense and Have you got a WKD side adverts.
I cant be bothered to do a real focus group arraning people of all demographics, so i am of course faking it. Can any of you give me opinions on these adverts. Ive found the Peter Kay adverts if you link the advert link on www.johnsmiths.co.uk and im sure you can remeber some WKD adverts such as;
Shopkeeper showing his WKD side
Trainer ties man's laces together
Dentist Scary Man
Man's girlfriend coming round (Hi Sue)
Man comes out of sea with sea-weed in his trunks
If you could just tell me what you thought of them, if you found them funny, what you found funny. What you think of the products themselves and if you buy them.

the wkd side adverts i found very funny, especially the one with the guy on the sofa and he wont leave his mate and his girl to it, made me piss myself.
the only funy JS adverts were the ave it one and the swimming pool one. rest became predictable.

I thought they were all shit. The John Smiths advert is for idiots. In fact the WKD advert is for idiot men who feel they need justifaction for drinking a gay drink.

i feel that the best WKD advert was the one where the fella is in the toilets and he wets him around the crotch!! Made me laugh so much.
My favourite John Smiths advert is the "top bombing" one where peter kay is in the olympics, quality stuff.
I personally like the wkd blue and dont buy the John Smiths, dont like bitter to be honest.

i found the js adverts to be quite clever, as they type cast a typical northern bloke to do it (peter kay) as a result i would bet that there is a certain affinity towards the adverts from people who live up north, compared to them who live down south. quite clever casting some one who the target audience would relate to in the advert, of course im just steryo typing though, but i assume there are more john smith drinkers in the north than the south.

I like the WKD blue advert when 1 of the guys is cleaning up the room and pretends to be gay and say "hi sue!"
