right just a quick one, i bought some second hand spax shock a while ago, and ive just checked them over an when i push the top piston part of the shock down, it stays there? i was told it should rise back up slowly but ivwe just seen a pic of some brand new ones for sale on her and the piston part is pushed in and it is all the way down? its this right or should it come back out?

They will only rise up slowly if you compress the fluid in them, even then they wont move up much... Fit them on a car, then bounce on the front and see if they rebound correctly.

Liquids cannot be compressed.

The damper rod will not move back up after compression without a spring fitted.

definately needs the spring they should not push out themselves aslong as they are fairly hard to push in they should be cool
