ok so i went out to the car as usual but before i opened it, i could hear this dead dodgy noise, the keys are in my hand so car is not started, so why on earth would it be making a noise?

its really hard to explain though, its like a hissing sort of motor noise type of thing, im really confused!!

where is it coming from? open your bonnet and try n find out where its coming from?

sounds like its coming from under the car, then when i open bonnet it sounds like it may be coming from behind the engine! sort of lower down :S

car got air con? As my dads passat hisses and gurgles sometimes after the car is switched off?

dont have air con mate, and it has never made this sound before, come to think of it, it sort of sounds like a pressurised type of noise!

yea wen i start my engine someties i get a hissing noise......also wen i open my petrol cap air hisses out. does this mean its blocked slightly??

ok i didnt start the car for a day and half, 2 days now, and the dodgy noise had stopped, so i go to start car, to find its killed my battery!

i think it may be a wiring problem

idle air control valve can do this, mine used to do it, even if i had the car stationary and swtiched off, there would be a weird sound coming from under the bonnet, turned out to be the idle control valve opening and closing on its own...would also cause the car to rev slightly when running....but it stopped after a while.

coolant tank used to hiss on mine kind of like a bubbling/pressurised air noise once turned off due to not enough of too much coolant maybe worth draining and refilling to right level dont forget to bleed all the air out though!!
