For a start, the most track use the majority of either corsas or scooby's are going to get is a traffic light gp.
Saying you would win on a track is no use if a scooby/nova/corsa just raped you on the local bypass or whatever.
Also this asking people what cars they have to decide if they have made a valid point.
Thats rubbish.
Because you don't have an amazing car you can't know about them.

Imprezas are good cars, been in quite a few now!
Prodrive
uk spec turbo
300bhp +
and also raced a few with the astra LET
I have managed to beat every scoob i have raced with, until the other week, when i met a tuned scoob which kept with me, but i was on low boost that night
No excuse though!
if it were through the twisties i dont think my astra wouldve done so good...
give me straight line anyday of the week so that i can get the power down
But scoobs are forever breaking.. helped my mate put one back together and a few hours later the thing kinda went tits up!
so were ripping it apart 2moro for an engine rebuild

standard wouldnt melt a piston.
Unless it was running mega lean on standard boost.
ANyway....
People have a choice in cars.... so if one person prefers a corsa over an impreza, hairy muff..
.... its just the cars are like night and day...

a rover 220 GTi beat me round a track in my supra....
If someone is comfortable with a car and knows its limits, they can 'beat' alot of higher powered cars. Doesnt really mean anything. Normally just driver.

Get a car that you personally like and do to it what gives you the greatest enjoyment whether it be chavving it up, upping the power to stupid levels, changing the looks etc, and don't care what anyone else thinks. Its your car and your personal enjoyment.
Owners are always going to say the car they drive is best, and theres no point in arguing cos theres always going to be someone who owns something even more exotic.

I can confirm that Corsa handling is dangerous at best! Put a heavy lump up front and its worse! Thats not opinion, thats fact!

^Agreed, my old corsa on a decent Bilstein set up was average on the handling front at best even with a 1.4 lump in, and didnt come anywhere near my 106 even when it was standard. As for the Integra, thats in a class of its own, I would imagine an Impreza would be just as good if not better.

stu, no im not suggesting that because i have a diff i can out handle every jap car. all i was meaning was that for a fwd car with a heavy engine and decent power it actually handles very well. it suprises me a lot.
ive spent a good few quid building my engine to a reasonable spec to one day soon run 370bhp.
admittedly a 370bhp imprezza would do a good quarter, but, on the open road, it really isnt no match. on average/medium non hair pin type corners my corsa can keep up with my mates imprezza without any problems.
still, as i said somehwere earlier, i do like imprezzas, i have muchos respect for cars that can launch like that 9 sec one i seen at crail

your mate isnt driving it properly then, the corsa will be VERY understeer happy on the gas and VERY lift off oversteer happy coming off the gas so you cant win

you get used to the point in which your car is at its cornering limits even with a turbo corsa. i can handle it well enough round bends. its more a case of trying to keep it just out of over boost

where as an impreza can normally handle those corners on boost

... but anyway...
they are different cars, designed differently, with different +/- points....
A standard corsa vs a standard impreza ????
A tuned Corsa LET vs a tuned STi TypeR/P1 ????
I know what i'd choose if budget wasnt an issue
