buy a GSi I have seen for £1k! I only want the engine for my 'winter project' so would be breaking it and selling EVERYTHING else.....
Would it be worth doing, would I recoup (sp) my money, or at least 3/4 of it...etc or do I just hold out for an engine on its own and stop being impatient!

you would recoop i would say 700 from parts, interior , bumpers, shell, wheels, bits and bobs etc...

couldnt you swap engines and sell on!
or buy a 1.2/4 and drop that in it and sell on!

Could do. All I want is a 1.6 engine. I already have a 1.6 sport but I cant be with out a car. So the plan is, buy an engine, play with it over winter, then just swap engines when its done. Therefore, I will only be without car for a few weeks while its having the engines swapped and mapped......

nah, you can pick up a 1.6 well cheap anyway, alot less hassle than buying the whole car and splitting it all down, and you'd be lucky if you broke even...

Yes, this is what im thinking. only problem is I havent been able to find one locally or even within a reasonable driving distance!  I got the cash for the engine waiting so im just getting impatient now!

with it being a GSI isn't it a more complicated procedure than just a straight swap as its has cable driven speedo etc
