that lot can be bought easily for 3k and fit myself and then get cheesey to wire it in,
in all fairness he and rich and pete did built this:

no spade connectors nothing, no oil cap visible,

the only way with a engine that old and miles is to do it right in the first place!

jambo - but you had to pay for the labour, and probs abt 2k for engine and box

my redtop has had a full bottom n top end rebuild ie pistons etc. very very expensive but worth it in the long run. i want my engine to be fitted once and that it. no more probs. rebuild cost me 2.5k using genuine vauxhall parts

You can get wallace perfromance to re-build you one with their "max" spec which is meant to be good for 400bhp

Or DIY it... Just get an engine and rip it apart and see what happens

I think you are better off getting an engine re-built rather than buying a re-manufactured engine. You can spec what parts you want and you wont be wasting a warrenty...

I want to have a LET corsa some time, but there is no way I am going to build one until I can afford to rip the enigne to bits and replace even more bits than I replaced on the XE... I'm really glad I pulled the XE to bits though, it cost a lot of money, but it appears to run sweet, apart from a leaking pipe But that's no biggie...

Just done a load of rewiring for mine!

Almost the entire car has been fettled/redone in some way now!

When I do my new engine...

Bottom end rebuild.
Oil sprayers
Steel rods
Low comp pistons.
Re-done head, with work done to it
Phase 4 ECU (cheap option for now)
GT28 turbo
Large injectors
Diff
Paddle cluch and fadanza flywheel.

Cars been down to a bare shell inside to sort all wiring

Top tip: whilst its in bits, if you can do it, do it!

Seen a cav with the same-ish spec, it got around 380bhp/420lb.

I'd be well happy if I got near that!

when i had the tb's fitted to my 1.6 i had the engine rebuilt, itd rather do that than fit a reconned engine, as stated above you know whats gone it it. and brad, most people who have a bit of electrical/mechanical knowledge can make a wiring loom properly with no spade connectors if they send the time doing it.

another cool thing about the skunk is the accelerator cable...... where is it
